`range_from` and [`range_to`](https://www.elastic.co/elastic/docs-builder/docs/3016/reference/elasticsearch/curator/fe_range_to) are counters of whole [units](https://www.elastic.co/elastic/docs-builder/docs/3016/reference/elasticsearch/curator/fe_unit). A negative number indicates a whole unit in the past, while a positive number indicates a whole unit in the future. A `0` indicates the present unit.
