# Schedule a transform to start now

Availability: Generally available since 8.7

## Paths

- `POST` `/_transform/{transform_id}/_schedule_now`

#### Path parameters

- `transform_id` (string) — required
  Identifier for the transform.

## Description

Instantly run a transform to process data.
If you run this API, the transform will process the new data instantly,
without waiting for the configured frequency interval. After the API is called,
the transform will be processed again at `now + frequency` unless the API
is called again in the meantime.

## Required authorization

- Cluster privileges: `manage_transform`

## Authentication

- Api key: `Authorization: <value>`
  Elasticsearch APIs support key-based authentication.
  You must create an API key and use the encoded value in the request header.
  For example:

  ```
  curl -X GET "${ES_URL}/_cat/indices?v=true" \
    -H "Authorization: ApiKey ${API_KEY}"
  ```

  To get API keys, use the `/_security/api_key` APIs.
- Basic: `Authorization: Basic <credentials>`
- Bearer: `Authorization: Bearer <token>`
  Elasticsearch APIs support the use of bearer tokens in the `Authorization` HTTP header to authenticate with the API.
  For examples, refer to [Token-based authentication services](https://www.elastic.co/docs/deploy-manage/users-roles/cluster-or-deployment-auth/token-based-authentication-services)

## Query string parameters

- `timeout` (string · default: 30s) — optional
  Controls the time to wait for the scheduling to take place
- `defer` (boolean · default: false) — optional
  When true, defers the scheduling by the transform's configured sync delay
instead of triggering immediately. The transform will process new data after
the delay elapses rather than right away.

## Response

`application/json`

- `acknowledged` (boolean)
  For a successful response, this value is always true. On failure, an exception is returned instead.
