# Change the interface language in Kibana
Kibana can display its interface in several languages. From the application header, you can select the language you prefer for your current project or deployment.
<tip>
  If you're using Elastic Cloud, this setting only applies to the Kibana UI of your serverless projects and hosted deployments.
</tip>

## Change your interface language

1. Open the user menu from the header.
2. Select **Language**.
   <note>
   If you don't sign in with your Elastic Cloud account, for example you use a username and password or a self-managed deployment, this option is on your profile page. To access it, select **Edit profile** from the header's user menu, then find the **Language** section.
   </note>
3. Select your preferred language from the **Display language** menu.
4. Select **Save changes**.
5. Refresh the page to apply the selected language.

## Troubleshooting

### If your language isn't available

By default, Kibana offers localized versions for [some languages](https://docs-v3-preview.elastic.dev/elastic/docs-builder/docs/4493/reference/kibana/configuration-reference/internationalization-settings#built-in-and-custom-locales).
On Elastic Cloud Hosted, Elastic Cloud Enterprise, Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes, and self-managed deployments, administrators can enable or disable languages, or turn language selection off, in the [internationalization settings](https://docs-v3-preview.elastic.dev/elastic/docs-builder/docs/4493/reference/kibana/configuration-reference/internationalization-settings).

### Browser translation isn't supported

Browser page translation, such as the translator built into Chrome or Edge, isn't supported. It modifies the page in ways that can make parts of Kibana stop updating or fail to load. To use Kibana in another language, change the interface language using the built-in options described on this page. Text that users create, such as dashboard and panel titles, isn't translated.
